Tere’s  family ran a fishing business where she became well versed in the local fishing species used in the culinary styles and flavors of local traditional seafood cooking.

Cooking has always been a passion for Teresa, who likes to combine the rich and bold Mediterranean, Caribbean, Creole and Peruvian cuisines; she believes this is her secret for the creation of culinary magic.

After finishing her studies in gastronomy she worked as a chef in hotels, fine dining restaurants, banquet kitchens and at the same time she took international cooking courses.

Eventually she had the idea of opening her own restaurant, a dream that came to fruition in June of 2015. The name of the original restaurant was MadFish Café.

About The Speaker

Tere Moreno

Tere Moreno grew up in the Central Pacific port of Puntarenas.

Currently Teresa works as a private chef and also runs MadFish Restaurant in Escazu, where fresh, local, and environmental responsible seafood is used to create delicious and eclectic seafood dishes.

The success of MadFish has been the impetus in starting a second location for her unique restaurant.
