We were not able to record July’s event, but as an active paying member of the PWNCR you can access the link to the slideshow. Please email us if you do not have that link and would like it!

PWNCR President Sarah Joy Staude grew up in a log home on a small island in Washington State in the United States, surrounded by an evergreen forest. As the daughter and only child of a fiber arts artist and a marine biologist who worked at a lab with many international visitors, Sarah Joy was exposed to a variety of cultures and interests from a young age. She lived in the same community through elementary and high school, especially enjoying acting in theatre productions and horseback riding as a teen. Sarah Joy went to a small liberal arts college in Portland, Oregon State, and majored in the cross-departmental major of Hispanic Studies which included semesters abroad in both Ecuador and the Dominican Republic. This field of study and these formative experiences shaped her love of Latin America and travel.
Sarah Joy’s first job after college was with the student exchange program, AFS Intercultural Programs which was a challenging non-profit position. In 2003, she volunteered for a 5 week position as the Trip Leader for a group of 23 teenagers from across the USA on a summer community service program in Costa Rica. Sarah Joy was paired with a tall, friendly tico named Julio as her co-leader, and thus began a lifelong partnership of adventure and fun. Soon after, she made the leap to move to Costa Rica and, together with Julio, Sarah Joy began creating the company that would become Boyero Tours.
Due to their shared love of travel and basis in student exchange and educational travel, Sarah Joy and Julio imagined a different kind of tourism for their clients to experience Costa Rica. Sarah Joy is now proud to run a successful boutique travel agency which has been growing for 18 years. She creates bespoke travel packages for special travelers who are seeking adventure, cultural connection, and to see the flora and fauna of Costa Rica up close. Sarah Joy brings together the most welcoming lodging, private transportation with friendly drivers, dynamic local guides, and a combination of the best tours and unique experiences that Costa Rica has to offer. Most Boyero Tours packages are 7-10 days and include all lodging, transportation, tours, and some meals. Each itinerary is completely custom and based on the clients’ desires and needs. As the travel dates approach, Sarah Joy continues to guide and support her clients with detailed itineraries and then supports them during their trip with any advice or modifications.
Sarah Joy is also the President of the Professional Women’s Network of Costa Rica. She enjoys a collaborative approach to leadership and coordination and is always seeking ways to find consensus and to make sure that all of our members feel included and heard. As the driving force behind the Leadership Team, Sarah Joy aims to inspire the other leaders in our network and make sure that the organization is moving in a positive direction.
