August was a month of firsts for the Professional Women’s Network of Costa Rica. For the first time, we held the monthly meeting in a new restaurant. Instead of our regular meeting at Tin Jo in San Jose, we hopped across the valley to Finca Rosa Blanca in Santa Barbara de Heredia.
It was a refreshing change! Several members commented on how lovely the restaurant is at Finca Rosa Blanca and how appropriate it was as the setting for the presentation.
The August meeting was also the first time we ever made a yoga class available on the morning of a meeting (more on that below).
Dr. Rasa’s presentation, Let Food Be Thy Medicine, covered the basics of healthy eating for individuals with specific health concerns. The presentation itself was incredibly informative, but it was the presenter who brought the most value. Dr. Rasa is a wealth of information on natural health and holistic wellness.
Combined with her calming presence and awareness of the audience, she established a strong connection with the audience. Several members were inspired to share their personal health concerns and seek advice. It was one of the liveliest question and answer sessions we have ever had!
Dr. Rasa offers her services both online and in-person at her home in Grecia. You can contact her directly at Dr.Nikanjam.ND@gmail.com to request the following services:
Before Dr. Rasa’s presentation, a smaller group of PWNCR members met for yoga at 7:30. The workshop was focused on learning specific poses (asanas) and breathing techniques for managing and healing from stress.
We experienced, as a group, the notable difference just a few minutes of nodi shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) can make. It is a perfect segue to meditation because it is the fastest and most effective way to lower the heart rate, reduce stress, and create a sense of calm in the body.
Mimi teaches yoga at Finca Rosa Blanca twice per week:
Her classes are Iyengar, Vinyasa, or Yin Yoga, depending on the needs of the group. On Monday and Friday mornings at 7:30 a.m., Hatha Yoga teacher Karen Chacon teaches at Finca Rosa Blanca. All classes cost 6.000 CRC and are open to all levels and abilities. You can contact Mimi directly for more information at info@mimimudd.com.
Alegria Lores, one of the founding members of the PWNCR, was the lucky winner of our August door prize! Alegria will enjoy 4 days and 3 nights at the lovely bed and breakfast La Colina de Carolina in Montezuma. We know you will enjoy it!
La Colina de Carolina is a pet-friendly vacation home overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It offers one bedroom and 1.5 bathrooms and sleeps up to four people.
Just a 10-minute walk away from Montezuma town center or the beaches, La Colina de Carolina is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway.
On Friday, August 23 PWNCR and Speakhabla are hosting our network’s first happy hour! Head to the Hilton Garden Inn in San Jose between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to enjoy 2-for-1 drinks and free appetizers!
