  1. Lic. Fernanda Jiménez Sauter spoke to 13 enthusiastic attendees about “Genetic resources and their importance in the international environmental movement ” a topic few of us had any previous understanding about but many of us had active interest in.   Fernanda recommended a book written for the general public, The Sixth Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert, for further information. To contact Fernanda directly to learn more, especially about ways to become involved in the movement to protect genetic diversity, write to her at fernanda.jimenez1@gmail.com     Nine of us took the option for lunch afterwards and continued our conversations.
  2. Raffle:  Pilar Saavedra, of La Casa De Las Tías (Bed and Breakfast) donated an umbrella in a bag with the business logo….it was won by Kathy Rothschild.  Martha Rollins won the second logo-ed bag that Pilar brought as a “consolation prize.”    creative!
  3. Welcome to Jody Steiger, new member!  Also to Rommy HerreraLeda Rodríguez and Alexandra Tuinstra, visitors.
  4. Thank you to Janice Crist, member visiting from Tucson, Arizona, for supplying the photos for the current meeting.  And thanks to Martha Rollins for donating the madelines for our coffee.
